Baby gifts handed over in ceremony

Baby gifts are a great expression of joy and celebration when a new child makes its arrival into the world. For this reason, they are popular all over the world. This was demonstrated in the US recently when a number of baby gifts, possibly including baby blankets, were handed over during a social event.

To mark the Wisconsin Home and Community Education Week, the Bayfield County Association for Home and Community Education (HCE) presented a basket of such items to the family of newborn Malachi Hagstrom, the County Journal reports.

Some of the baby gifts were handmade, while others had been purchased from a variety of retailers. The offering was made to show the organisation's commitment to children and families.

The youngster who benefited from the presents is the son of Jenean and Lorry Hagstrom of Ashland and he was born in the autumn of 2010.

Bayfield County HCE has been involved in a range of events and initiatives over the years and it comprises three local clubs that are based throughout the area. Its members participate in a range of activities and community service projects.

As well as handing over baby gifts, they have fundraised on behalf of local charities, participated in a book programme that provides reading material for young children and generated money for college scholarships.

With the cost of higher and further education rising in the UK, more people may be inclined to provide money as gifts when youngsters are born so their parents can start savings accounts that will help their sons and daughters fund their passage through college or university.

Of course, this does not mean that more traditional items such as clothes and blankets will go out of fashion.
